Community is Everything

Wow - what a year! 2020 has brought so many challenges to so many people, impacting lives everywhere. Yet even before the pandemic struck, we had been looking at how we can best serve our people and bring to fruition existing and new ideas of how to best meet the needs of our community.

In taking a view on our purpose we felt we needed to put our community at the heart of what we do, and so we have taken the decision to improve our offerings.

Please help us welcome Team CommUNITY @ ARTICLE 19.

Yes! We have a new home for our current and upcoming projects and a strong basis from which to continue the Internet Freedom Festival, which so many of you have come to love.

We are incredibly excited about the potential the future holds for us as we work together to develop programs that advance the goals and needs of the digital rights community. That is why Team CommUNITY will focus on four main areas:

  • Bringing people together through events and gatherings

  • Increasing resilience through community building and critical support

  • Developing initiatives for emerging communities

  • Contracting expert services

In addition, we will be using our expertise and experience to offer a variety of services to human rights and tech organizations that need help to create diverse and inclusive internal and external communities. All monies collected will be invested into our programs and our Equity Fund (formerly known as the Diversity & Inclusion Fund)

Coming Soon
Early in 2021 will be our Community Health Report. This unique report will provide a snapshot of the health and wellbeing of the Internet Freedom communities and networks around the world.

What Does This Mean For You?

We think that our new formula will enable us to not only continue to offer the community a variety of spaces through which to convene and initiate discussions and projects but will also allow us to better serve you with new opportunities for collaboration and creation.

While we await the decisions needed to enable us to meet physically again through the Internet Freedom Festival (probably in 2022) we will continue to create the means for us to engage with each other on a wide variety of priorities. So.…

Stay in touch with us at Team CommUNITY where you will find Trinh Nguyen, Sandra Ordonez, and Victoria Sanchis. We are always open to hearing from you and encourage you to check out our new website!

And, as always, we are open for conversations around collaborations, and will support you all in any way that we can!
