Now Hiring: Event Staff for the 2026 Global Gathering
Team CommUNITY’s 2026 Global Gathering is taking place September 4-6 in Estoril, Portugal. The Global Gathering brings together groups from around the world working on the most urgent technology-related challenges affecting human rights, social justice, civil society, and journalism at the local, regional and global levels. To help support the event, TCU is hiring event staff to ensure a smooth experience for the Global Gathering participants.
Work expected:
Provide logistical and security support at the event and vendor entryways. Tasks include: checking that badges are visible and match wristbands, answering questions of event attendees, taking direction as required from the event security team, etc.
Support event registration. Tasks include: verifying approval codes from applicants against registration database, provide matching wristbands with badges, confirming participant understanding of event security and code of conduct policies, checking in with participants waiting in line to maintain a calm and positive environment, alerting TCU/GG event staff to any issues, etc.
Booth and circle support. Tasks include: helping direct participants to booth and circle locations; making sure that circle facilitators and booth hosts have all needed supplies, ensuring areas are clear / organized before start of event, etc.
On-call logistical and operational support for TCU/GG staff. If you speak Portuguese and/or other languages, please note this in your application/resume.
Hours committed:
Pre-event virtual trainings (TBD, 60-90 min for 1-2 sessions)
September 3 (pre-event) 13:00 - 20:00 local time
September 4-6 (event days) 08:30 - 21:00 local time
